Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi chaired an important meeting here at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday to review preparations and arrangements for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.
During the meeting, progress on Islamabad’s beautification and other projects were reviewed. The Interior Minister directed to ensue beautification of the Red Zone, particularly VIP routes, and landscaping along major roads.
He instructed that the city be adorned with beautiful flowers and fancy lights. Mohsin Naqvi tasked the authorities with completing the renovation of the Jinnah Convention Center promptly.
He also issued necessary directives for expedited completion of the beautification and construction works. ‘The SCO Summit in Pakistan reflects the Government’s successful foreign policy,’ Mohsin Naqvi said.
He emphasized focusing on Islamabad’s beautification and cleanliness, particularly VIP routes and the Red Zone. Moreover, during the meeting security arrangements for the SCO Summit were also reviewed. As per directions of the Interior Minister, it was decided to take indiscriminate action against illegal housing societies.
The Interior Minister directed that in order to keep Islamabad free from illegal constructions and encroachments, no leniency must be shown in operations against these illegalities.
Mohsin Naqvi directed the Commissioner Islamabad and Commissioner Rawalpindi to jointly work regarding the prevention of dengue. He instructed the Islamabad and Rawalpindi administrations to enhance coordination in boundary areas.
He said twin cities’ administrations should conduct joint operations and promptly clear potential dengue breeding sites. He directed to increase surveillance in the areas reporting dengue cases.
