Interior Minister approves setting up of modern safari park in Islamabad

Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has approved setting up of a world-class and first international standard safari park in Islamabad to provide recreational facility to the citizens.

The Interior Minister chaired a meeting in this regard at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters, according to a statement issued here on Wednesday.

During the meeting, proposals regarding the establishment of the safari park were reviewed. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa briefed the Interior Minister on the project.

In the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi gave in principle approval for the establishment of safari park in the federal capital. The safari park will be spread over 200 acres of land.

Around 5,000 animals and birds will be kept in the safari park, while in the first phase, it will be started with 2,000 animals and birds.

The Interior Minister directed to get the safari park registered with the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. He also directed to finalize all matters related to the project on priority.

He directed that the foundation stone of the safari park should be laid in October, adding that safari park will increase tourism in the city.
