KARACHI: Provincial Minister of Information, Minority Affairs, Social Protection, and President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, participated in a family fair organized in celebration of the 75th birthday of Gul Rana Nusrat Community Centre.
On this occasion, Minister Muhammad Ahmed Shah also cut the cake for Gul Rana Nusrat Community Centre’s 75th anniversary. Speaking at the ceremony, Provincial Minister of Information, Minority Affairs, Social Protection, and President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, extended congratulations on the completion of 75 years of Gul Rana Nusrat Community Centre.
He remarked that these sisters have been working tirelessly for fifty years. Begum Gul Rana laid the foundation of this community center in 1948; He acknowledged the significant contribution of the centre, stating that these efforts are not new but have been ongoing for 75 years.
He praised the dedication of the women involved, emphasizing that they have been diligently working for decades, even amidst challenging circumstances. Minister Muhammad Ahmed Shah highlighted the need to strengthen the concept of community centres and suggested the acquisition of modern machinery to upgrade the facilities. He pledged full cooperation for the development of the centre and also acknowledged the respectable status of all the women in society. Responding to a question, the Provincial Minister for Information, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, mentioned that typically, the National Assembly session takes place first, where the Prime Minister is elected. Then, the Provincial Assembly session follows. Regarding the recent elections, he commented that Shazia Marri’s allegations were made against her opponents.
Violence incidents decreased compared to the previous elections. If Shazia Marri believes there have been violent incidents, she should seek legal action. In 2018, several individuals lost their lives in the elections, but this time, no one died. The situation in Sindh, especially Larkana, has been better compared to the past due to law and order measures. He mentioned that the provincial government did not allocate any funds to the JDC, and Sindh government will address the issues of the KMC. Various cultural and decorative items made by women were displayed at the fair, including clothing, jewellery, port painting, flower making, cosmetics, and food and beverage items. Around 70 stalls were set up featuring different items.
