Indus River flows in medium flood; riverine areas submerged

SUKKUR:A medium-level flood is recorded in Indus River owing to which the Katcha areas of tehsils Dokri and Baqrani were inundated on Friday. The floodwater has entered the Katcha areas of Dokri and Baqrani and people have started evacuating their homes and are moving to safer places. The rushing river water has destroyed standing crops in these areas. The water level in Indus River has started rising after receiving heavy rain. The water level in Sukkur Barrage has increased by 34,000 cusecs in the last 12 hours. Whereas, Gaddu Barrage water level rose by 10,000 cusecs.

The water inflow at Sukkur Barrage was recorded at 325,000 cusecs while outflow was recorded at 290,000 cusecs. The water inflow at Gaddu Barrage was recorded at 378,000 cusecs while outflow was recorded at 368,000 cusecs. The water inflow at Kotri Barrage was recorded at 120,000 cusecs while outflow was recorded at 86,000 cusecs. The katcha areas dotting along these barrages have been submerged due to increased water level.
