According to a Kashmir Media Service report on Monday, despite repeated warnings from meteorological agencies, the recent snowfall has led to the closure of vital road links, including the Zojila Pass connecting Kashmir and Ladakh, causing significant disruptions to winter travel.
Residents in affected areas, particularly those in remote districts like Gurez and Machil, lament the lack of proactive measures from authorities to mitigate the impact of snowfall. With roads impassable and essential supplies dwindling, locals feel abandoned amidst the harsh winter conditions.
The closure of key transportation routes has not only stranded travelers but also hindered the movement of essential goods, exacerbating the challenges faced by communities already grappling with harsh weather conditions.
