President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry condemned the Pahalgam incident and expressed concern over the situation, stating that India cannot suppress the Kashmiri freedom movement through oppression. He noted that India aims to crush the spirit of freedom among Kashmiris by force, but has failed to achieve this goal.
President Chaudhry highlighted that the unarmed people of occupied Kashmir have kept the freedom movement alive through sacrifices. He accused India of resorting to false flag operations in Pahalgam, using them as a pretext to oppress the Kashmiri people. He called on the international community to prevent India from such aggressive actions and to work towards resolving the Kashmir issue according to the wishes of the oppressed Kashmiris.
The president emphasized that India’s false flag operations only strengthen the Kashmir issue internationally and expose India’s intentions. He urged the political leadership of Azad Kashmir, the Hurriyat Conference (Azad Kashmir Chapter), and overseas Kashmiris to unite in exposing India’s atrocities to the world.
President Chaudhry was addressing a special meeting of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (Azad Kashmir Chapter) at the Presidential Secretariat in Kashmir House, Islamabad. The Hurriyat delegation included several prominent members who briefed the president on the latest situation in occupied Kashmir and the ongoing brutality after the Pahalgam incident.
The president and the Hurriyat delegation agreed to intensify efforts to highlight the Kashmir issue globally and to collaborate with overseas Kashmiris to address the ongoing oppression in occupied Kashmir. President Chaudhry warned that any incident between nuclear-armed Pakistan and India could lead to a major conflict, threatening global peace. He called on influential countries like the US and the UK to intervene and reduce the risk of war in South Asia.
The Hurriyat Conference’s convenor, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, praised President Chaudhry’s efforts to raise the Kashmir issue nationally and internationally. The meeting condemned the state terrorism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, drawing parallels to Israeli tactics, and urged the international community to take immediate notice of the situation.
The Hurriyat leaders called on the United Nations and human rights organizations to pressure India to end state terrorism in Kashmir and allow Kashmiris their right to self-determination, as promised by UN resolutions. They highlighted the severe human rights violations, including demolitions, arbitrary arrests, and harassment of Kashmiri students, demanding global action.
President Chaudhry reaffirmed the commitment of Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s government and people to support their Kashmiri brethren until they achieve their right to self-determination. He urged both Pakistan and India to engage in serious negotiations for lasting peace in the region, emphasizing that meaningful dialogue is essential for resolving the longstanding Kashmir dispute.
