Chairman of Nizam-e-Mustafa Party and former Federal Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Haji Muhammad Hanif Tayyab, criticized the recent increase in petrol prices, saying that an increase in petrol prices despite a decrease in the global market is unacceptable and detrimental to the public. He cited the increase of ten and eight rupees per liter in diesel and petrol prices, respectively, despite a decrease in global petroleum prices. He also condemned the increase in fixed charges on domestic gas bills.

Dr. Tayyab highlighted the current inflationary pressures, citing rising food, medicine, and transportation costs. Power outages and expensive electricity bills have further added to the woes of citizens. He said that the increase in petrol prices will worsen the situation as it impacts the prices of essential commodities.

He expressed concern over the lack of basic necessities for a large segment of the population, such as economic stability, employment, healthcare, education, water, electricity, and gas. Dr. Tayyab appealed to both the government and the opposition to work together on measures to alleviate public suffering. He rejected the recent increase in petrol prices and demanded a reduction in prices.
