IHC bars authorities from arresting Fawad Chaudhry till May 17

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday granted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Fawad Chaudhry two-day protective bail in all cases.

The court barred the authorities from arresting him from within the limits of the federal capital till May 17. The protective bail was granted by a single-member IHC bench comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb.

Earlier in the day, the IHC accepted Fawad Chaudhry’s bail petition and ordered his release. Hearing separate pleas, the IHC declared the arrest of Fawad Chauadhry, Shireen Mazari and Senator Falak Naz under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Ordinance (MPO) “illegal”.
