IGP orders enforcement of Health Management Information System in Police Hospital

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police, Riffat Mukhtar Raja has directed for enforcement of the Health Management Information System (HMIS) in Police Hospital Karachi in order to ensure a better and swift treatment facility for the patients.

He was on a follow up visit to Sindh Police Hospital located at Police Hospital Garden, Karachi, according to a statement issued from IGP office on Friday. The enforcement of HMIS will be made in the form of registration of a patient in OPD, pathol¬ogy, radiology, and pharmacy. The tests of patients, diagnosis and record of pa¬tients will be uploaded on the central¬ised system through the Health Man¬agement Information System(HMIS).

The monitoring of the perfor¬mance of the doctors and the paramedical staff will also be possible through HMIS.

During the visit, MS Police Hospital made a comprehensive presentation covering the related financial and management matters.

IG Police, Mr. Riffat Mukhtar Raja, announced the commencement of medical camps by police hospitals in the first week of the December at various Police Lines. These camps will established to provide healthcare facilities to ailing police personnel and their families, at their doorsteps.

Highlighting the commitment to providing top-notch medical services, the 50-bedded Police Hospital Garden will be affiliated with a government medical college to ensure access to the best medical specialists and practitioners. A comprehensive awareness campaign in police residential areas, focusing on police hospital facilities, diseases, and precautions, was also directed by IG Riffat Mukhtar Raja.

IGP also emphasized upon the launch of a fumigation campaign in all residential areas of police to ensure prevention against malaria and dengue outbreaks. In a move to facilitate ailing police personnel, a dedicated bus transport service will be initiated from Police Lines to the Police Hospital, ensuring convenient transportation.

Furthermore, Riffat Mukhtar Raja directed the provision of high-quality and upgraded machinery to the hospital, besides Immediate renovation and decoration works at the hospital. “To ensure timely repairs, the services of a private company may be enlisted for machinery maintenance”, he added.

In a visionary step, a mechanism involving a board of directors, including philanthropists, was ordered to be established for enhancing the administrative affairs of the hospital. Present during the visit were Additional IG Welfare and Finance, DIG Traffic Karachi, and AIG Welfare Sindh.
