LAHORE: IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar has relinquished his charge as he will join his office in the United Nations, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

IGP Shahkar forwarded his report to the secretary services informing the authorities regarding his decision to relinquish charge of his duty on Tuesday. However, the government has not appointed any new officer who could assume the charge of IG Punjab.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Nov 29 approved Faisal Shahkar’s appointment in the United Nations as Police Advisor to UN Secretary-General. He had been appointed by the UN Secretary-General as United Nations Police Advisor in the Department of Peace Operations (DPO) on October 31.
