Human Rights Day celebrated in Sindh

KARACHI:,,, Commemorating International Human Rights Day: Freedom, Equality, and Justice for All, the Sindh Human Rights Commission in collaboration with the Human Rights Department celebrated Human Rights Day, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This foundational document enshrines the inalienable rights of every individual, irrespective of differences. It provided an opportunity to reflect on our progress and the challenges in protecting human rights globally.

Aligned with the 75th anniversary of the UDHR, the Sindh Human Rights Commission chose “Education and Awareness” as this year’s theme. Acknowledging the transformative power of knowledge, the Commission aims to foster a culture of equality and justice by enhancing public understanding of human rights and legal entitlements.

The event focused on the launch of the Human Rights Policy, a study on Legal Aid Mechanisms in Sindh, and the unveiling of our innovative online portal, Sohris.com. SOHRIS will serve as a comprehensive resource hub, providing information on human rights, legal safeguards, and avenues for seeking remedy. This strategic initiative resonates with our 2023-2027 plan, emphasizing the empowerment of diverse societal segments through increased awareness and understanding of human rights.
