Hoti resigns from ANP’s senior vice presidency post after losing election battle

PESHAWAR: Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has resigned as the senior vice president of the Awami National Party (ANP).

The ANP leader announced his resignation as the senior vice president in a social media post on X. Hoti claimed the responsibility for his defeat from his ancestral constituency [of NA-22 Mardan in the elections], acknowleding that the electorate did not pose confidence in him.

He remarked that he would continue to be part of the caravan of Bacha Khan as a humble member of the party.

In another post, Hoti, while gracefully embracing defeat in the elections, congratulated newly elected MNA Atif Khan and MPA Abdul Salam Khan, hoping they would serve the constituents.

Hoti, the nephew of ANP President Asfandyar Wali Khan, served as the youngest and longest-serving elected chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between 2008 and 2013.
