Hindu Community Lauded for Observing Simple Holi Amid National Security Concerns

Citing the prevailing security situation and circumstances along the nation’s western border, a senior political figure has praised Pakistan’s Hindu community for agreeing to observe the upcoming Holi festival with simplicity, urging citizens to limit large-scale celebrations to ensure national security.

According to PPP information today, Muhammad Humayun Khan, Secretary General of the Pakistan Peoples Party, expressed heartfelt appreciation towards the Hindu community for their wholehearted support of an appeal made by President Asif Ali Zardari for a subdued festival in the spirit of national unity.

Mr Khan stated that by endorsing the President”s call, the community has set an exemplary standard of patriotism, responsibility, and national consciousness. He added this gesture demonstrates that all citizens of Pakistan prioritise the nation”s interest, peace, and stability.

He emphasised the wisdom in restricting public gatherings and major celebrations to maintain law and order, highlighting that adhering to precautionary measures and directives from local authorities is a shared civic duty.

The Secretary General reaffirmed Pakistan’s pride in its religious and cultural diversity, where followers of all faiths enjoy complete freedom to celebrate their religious festivals.

However, he noted that in light of present challenges, demonstrating national harmony and unity is the need of the hour.

While paying tribute to Hindus across the country, Mr Khan extended advance Holi greetings, expressing hope that the festival of colours would be celebrated with moderation and mutual respect.

He concluded by reiterating the Pakistan Peoples Party’s ongoing commitment to promoting interfaith harmony, brotherhood, and sustainable peace within the nation.
