A high-powered delegation of 12 major Chinese companies, accompanied by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Investment and Public-Private Partnership, Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, visited the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone (SEZ) today.
According to a statement issued from the Sindh Investment Department, the delegation showed keen interest in investing across various sectors, including cargo, electronic vehicles, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, solar and wind energy, livestock, agriculture, and others. Notably, they expressed intent to establish a $1 billion medical city within the Dhabeji SEZ.
Secretary Investment Sindh Raja Khurram Shahzad, Chief Executive Officer Sindh Economic Zone Management Company Abdul Azim Aqili, Chief Executive Officer Global Ventures Idrees Jiji and senior officers of the Sindh Investment Department were present on this occasion.
Mr Qamar emphasized that Dhabeji SEZ represents the enduring friendship between China and Pakistan and is a cornerstone of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The Chinese delegation discussed setting up factories for solar plates, inverters, batteries, and coal-based fertilizer production in collaboration with local partners.
During a meeting with senior Sindh government officials, Secretary Investment Sindh Raja Khurram Shahzad presented an overview of Dhabeji SEZ, accompanied by an introductory video. The session concluded with Qamar presenting commemorative shields to the Chinese delegates.
Dhabeji SEZ is a prominent symbol of the lasting and proud friendship between China and Pakistan. Sindh offers vast and attractive investment opportunities across all sectors. The strategic location of Dhabeji SEZ will drive industrial development, technology transfer, and job creation.
The zone’s proximity to ports, road, and rail networks positions it as a vital hub for industrial growth, technology transfer, and employment generation.
