A high-level Turkish delegation, led by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, is poised to arrive in Pakistan for a visit that officials anticipate will play a ‘transformational role’ in advancing bilateral cooperation in the energy and mining sectors.

The upcoming engagement was the central topic of discussion during a meeting on Monday between Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and the Ambassador of Turkiye to Pakistan, Irfan Neziroglu. The preparatory meeting was also attended by Secretary Petroleum Momin Agha and OGDCL Managing Director Ahmed Hayat Lak.

Minister Malik emphasized that the visit signifies a deepening partnership between the two nations and is expected to unlock new avenues for investment and joint ventures. He highlighted the visit’s potential to significantly bolster economic ties.

Discussions reviewed the expanding collaboration, with both sides expressing satisfaction over recent milestones. It was noted that Turkish Petroleum has recently commenced both offshore and onshore exploration activities in Pakistan, a significant development in the bilateral energy relationship.

Signaling Turkiye’s growing interest in Pakistan’s mineral wealth, Ambassador Neziroglu confirmed that a leading Turkish mineral sector company will be part of the visiting delegation. This inclusion underscores a serious intent to explore opportunities within Pakistan’s mining industry.

The partnership has also seen Pakistan’s leading exploration firms-OGDCL, PPL, and Mari Energies-join forces with Turkish Petroleum (TPAO). Minister Malik noted this collaboration creates fresh opportunities and enhances joint capabilities in regional and global markets.

Reaffirming his country’s commitment, Ambassador Neziroglu stated that there are ‘many promising areas of cooperation between the two brotherly countries.’ He expressed confidence that Minister Bayraktar’s visit would ‘further cement and deepen Pak-Turkiye relations.’

Both officials concluded the meeting by expressing their shared determination to ensure the visit is successful, aiming to translate mutual goodwill into tangible economic and strategic outcomes.
