The National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), HEC has launched a two-week Faculty Development Programme (Tier-II) for Associate Professors of Public Sector Universities of Federal and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions at Higher Education Commission (HEC), Regional Centre, Peshawar. The program aims to elevate teaching excellence, research innovation, and professional growth.
This two week programme aims to equip faculty members with the skills to serve as Trainers of Trainers (TOT), enabling them to enhance their roles as professional educators and trainers across Pakistan in terms of fostering excellence in teaching, research, and professional growth. The training, designed for mid-career faculty members, will equip participants with advanced andragogical techniques, innovative research strategies, and leadership competencies required to meet the evolving demands of higher education.
The opening ceremony was graced by distinguished guests including Director of the Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar Prof. Dr. Usman Ghani and Vice Chancellor, Kohat University of Science and Technology Prof. Dr. Naseer ud Din. Mr. Nasir Shah, Director General HEC Regional Centre, Peshawar, welcomed the participants and applauded NAHE team for their initiative aimed to enhance the skills, knowledge, and leadership capabilities of faculty members.
The Faculty Development Programme Tier-II reflects NAHE’s unwavering commitment to academic advancement and innovation. Faculty members are encouraged to actively participate, benefit from this transformative opportunity, and contribute to the institution’s legacy of excellence. The programme features eight specialized modules including Ensuring Excellence in Higher Education Teaching, Effective Academic Planning and Implementation Strategies, Psychological and Educational Strategies for Teacher and Student Development, Effective Organizational Communication, Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for Enhancing Andragogical Skills, Research Excellence and Innovation, Assessment and Evaluation (Digital Tools), and Higher Educational Administration and Management. The Modules will be delivered by leading experts in their fields. Utilizing modern pedagogical techniques and digital tools, the sessions foster active participation and collaborative learning.
Faculty development is essential for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in higher education settings. By improving the capabilities and effectiveness of university faculty, institutions can better contribute to multiple SDGs. Faculty development aligns with and supports various SDGs including SDG-4 (Quality Education), SDG-5 (Gender Equality), SDG-8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG-10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG-13 (Climate Action) and SDG-16 (Peace, Justice and strong Institutions).
