Heavy rains likely to generate flash floods in country’s several nullahs, streams

Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted on Saturday that heavy rains might generate flash flooding in local nullahs and streams of Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Hafizabad, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Kohat, Karak and Kashmir on 10 and 11th Aug.

Heavy Downpour may cause urban flooding in low lying areas of Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Narowal, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Nowshera and Peshawar.

rnLandslides may cause roads closure at the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the forecast period.

Synoptic Situation: Monsoon currents from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are penetrating upper parts of the country at lower tropospheric levels and likely to penetrate in central parts from today. A westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country.

Saturday weather: Intermittent rain-windstorm or thundershower (with few heavy falls) is expected in Islamabad, Kashmir, northeast Punjab, Potohar region and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Rain-windstorm or thundershower is likely at isolated places in south-central Punjab, northeast-south Balochistan and southeast Sindh.

Sunday weather: Rain-wind or thundershower is expected in Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Potohar region, Islamabad, northeast-south Balochistan and southeast-upper Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan while, few heavy falls also likely during the period.

Past 24 Hours Weather: Rain-wind or thundershower occurred at isolated places in Islamabad, Punjab, eastern Sindh, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, eastern Balochistan and Kashmir. Hot and humid weather prevailed over other parts of the country?
