Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is setting up the food department on modern lines to bring transparency in administrative affairs.

This was stated by Minister for Food Atif Khan in a statement in Peshawar.

He said the food department had proposed a budget of fifty billion rupees for the next financial year. He added that the major portion of the budget will be utilized for procurement of wheat and subsidies to ensure provision of wheat flour to the masses at a reasonable price.

The Minister said the government has also decided to establish a provincial food testing laboratory and Mobile testing laboratories across the province.
