Govt committed to support ECP for smooth conduct of polls: Info Minister

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Solangi, on Tuesday said the caretaker government plays a crucial role as a bridge between the two elected governments, fostering stability and ensuring the continuation of the democratic process.

According to a Radio Pakistan’s report, while speaking in a PTV program “Vote Pakistan”, he said under Article 218(3) of the Constitution, the caretaker government is committed to providing financial, administrative, and security support to the the Election Commission for the smooth conduct of elections.

The Minister said every citizen should exercise his right to vote according to his conscience. He said the recent verdict of the Supreme Court related to intra-party elections has established a precedent for other political parties, promoting democracy within their ranks.

He said the Election Commission of Pakistan did not take notice of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) intra-party elections, but a complaint was sent to it.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring equal coverage to all political parties by the state media, and emphasized that Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan are public institutions operating on taxpayers’ money, expressing solidarity with the people.

The Minister underscored the government’s achievements in improving political and economic conditions over the past five months, promising better times ahead for the nation.
