ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said the incumbent government is fully committed to freedom of press and speech.
In a tweet, he said Pakistan fell twelve points on Press Freedom Index during last year of Imran Khan’s government and eighteen points during his whole tenure. The Prime Minister said this thing not only earned Imran Khan shameful title of “press freedom predator” but also placed Pakistan’s democracy in bad light.
In its latest index of 180 countries, the Reporters Without Borders, has placed Pakistan at 157, comparing 145 in 2021 and 139 in 2018, when Imran Khan had assumed the office.
