Following the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)’s order, the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has formally asked the Chief Minister to summon a session of the provincial assembly.
In a letter sent by the Governor’s Principal Secretary, Zubair Arshad, to the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, the need for holding the session, as emphasized by the Election Commission, has been conveyed. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) shared the news on X (formerly Twitter). The message highlights the ECP’s written directive to summon the legislative session for the oath-taking of members elected on reserved seats in compliance with the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s decision.
Referring to Rule 36(1)(a) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government’s Rules of Business 1985 and the Fifth Schedule, the letter clarifies that the request to summon the assembly session should be forwarded to the Governor through the Chief Minister.
