Government Pledges Tax Relief for Dairy Industry Amidst Economic Challenges

In a recent meeting with a delegation from the Dairy Association, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, underscored the government’s intent to reduce taxes on milk, a move aimed at easing the financial burdens on the dairy industry.

The discussion, held on Friday, placed a spotlight on the pressing taxation issues affecting milk, a staple commodity. The Minister highlighted milk as a fundamental necessity and advocated for it to either be exempt from taxes or face minimal taxation.

Assuring the delegation, Hussain revealed that the Ministry is actively pursuing measures to alleviate the tax pressure and promised forthcoming updates on the progress. He emphasized the vital role of the dairy sector in rural economies, noting that many farmers depend on milk sales as their main income source.

In a bid to foster collaboration and devise sustainable strategies, the Ministry plans to host a seminar with all relevant stakeholders. The Minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to supporting farmers and ensuring the growth of the dairy sector as a primary objective for the Ministry.
