Government Pledges Support for Afghan Citizen Repatriation

The federal government is committed to fully cooperating with provincial authorities in the repatriation of Afghan Citizen Card Holders, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi asserted.

Presiding over a meeting on the matter, Naqvi emphasized the ongoing coordination between federal and provincial governments to ensure the smooth return of Afghan citizens.

He outlined that the repatriation of illegal foreign nationals has been in progress since November 2023. Afghan Citizen Card Holders are instructed to voluntarily leave Pakistan by the 31st of this month as part of the second phase.

The Interior Minister indicated that Minister of State Talal Chaudhry will travel to various provinces to resolve any challenges that might emerge during the repatriation efforts. Furthermore, a committee has been established based on suggestions from the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to address related issues.

Naqvi stressed the importance of treating foreign nationals respectfully during the repatriation process. During the meeting, it was disclosed that all preparations for the return have been finalized, including the mapping and notification of Afghan Citizen Card Holders about the process.
