Government and Opposition Hold Constructive Second Round of Talks in Islamabad


ISLAMABAD: The government and opposition representatives convened for a second round of discussions in Islamabad, seeking to address pressing political issues amid ongoing national challenges. The meeting, held in a conducive environment, aimed to lay the groundwork for a potential resolution to the current political impasse.



According to Radio Pakistan, the government was represented by a team including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Rana Sanaullah, Irfan Siddiqui, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Syed Naveed Qamar, Farooq Sattar, Ijaz-ul-Haq, and Khalid Hussain Magsi. The opposition delegation comprised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Salman Akram Raja, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Asad Qaisar, Omar Ayub, and Raja Nasir Abbas.



Following the meeting, Senator Irfan Siddiqui briefed the media, stating that the next round of talks would be scheduled for the following week. The opposition has requested additional time for consultation and to seek guidance from the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Siddiqui expressed optimism that the PTI would present a formal charter of demands in the upcoming session.



The discussions are part of ongoing efforts to bridge differences and find common ground on several national issues. Both sides have expressed a commitment to continuing dialogue in hopes of reaching a mutually agreeable solution.
