Pakistan has invited the global telecommunications company “Peace Cable” to make a major investment in expanding the country’s fiber optic network. This invitation was extended by Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, Syed Amin Ul Haque, during a meeting with Peace Cable CEO Sun Xiaohua at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai.
Discussions focused on improving fiber optic connectivity in Pakistan and its surrounding areas. Peace Cable, with annual revenues of $24 billion, expressed strong interest in investing in both submarine and terrestrial fiber optic networks. The company sees vast potential for collaboration with Pakistan.
Minister Haque briefed the Peace Cable delegation about Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s “Digital Nation” initiative. A key component of this project, the National Fiberization Policy, aims to connect 10 million homes with fiber broadband internet within three years. Pakistan encouraged Peace Cable to participate in projects related to Fiber to the Home (FTTH), Optical Distribution Networks (ODN), and terrestrial fiber networks.
