Pakistan’s global travel standing has plummeted further, with its passport now ranked as the fourth least powerful in the world, according to the Henley Passport Index 2025. This significant decline in ranking places the nation’s travel document just above those of conflict-ridden Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.

The latest report positions the Pakistani passport at 103rd, a spot it shares with Yemen. Holders of this travel document can journey to a mere 33 countries without requiring a prior visa. This provides only slightly more mobility than passports from Iraq (31 destinations), Syria (28 destinations), and Afghanistan, which sits at the bottom of the list with access to just 26 countries.

This year’s assessment marks a continued downward trajectory for Pakistan on the global mobility scale. In 2024, the nation’s passport was placed 100th, underscoring a persistent weakness that has kept the country near the bottom of the index for five consecutive years.

At the apex of the global list, Singapore has retained its coveted position as the world’s most powerful passport, offering its citizens visa-free entry to 193 destinations. South Korea followed closely in second place with access to 190 locations, while Japan secured the third spot with 189. A bloc of European nations, including Germany, Italy, and Spain, jointly hold fourth place.

In a notable shift among global powers, the United States has exited the top 10, with its passport now positioned at 12th, granting visa-free travel to 180 countries. Similarly, the United Kingdom has fallen to its lowest-ever rank, dropping to eighth place, a stark contrast to its first-place standing in 2015.

The Henley Passport Index is a definitive ranking of 199 passports worldwide. It measures them according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a pre-arranged visa, utilizing exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
