Wasit Khan, Ansar, and Muhammad Khan are being recognized for their instrumental role in alerting communities about an impending Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF), ultimately saving approximately 300 lives.
Their proactive warnings enabled residents to evacuate to safer areas, preventing a potential catastrophe. The Prime Minister lauded the trio as national heroes, commending their exemplary sense of responsibility and duty. He expressed pride, on behalf of the entire nation, for their selfless actions.
Sharif will personally present the men with a special award, honoring their bravery and commitment to public safety. Their efforts averted a major disaster in the mountainous northern territory.
