Gas Explosion in Quetta Claims Two Lives, Injures Eight

Two people, including a young girl, lost their lives, while eight others sustained injuries in a gas leakage explosion in the Pushtunabad area of Quetta on Sunday.

According to a PPI report, the incident occurred when gas accumulated inside a house exploded, resulting in casualties. Emergency responders shifted the deceased and injured to Sandeman Provincial Hospital Quetta for medico-legal formalities and medical treatment.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Rahim, 70, and Kalsoom, 10, daughter of Abdul Hameed. Their bodies were handed over to their heirs after completing legal procedures. The injured were identified as Bibi Arfa, Abdul Basit, Abdul Hameed, Muhammad Tayyab, Bibi Gul, Naveed, Malaika, and Zabeehullah.

Police authorities in Pushtunabad have initiated an investigation into the incident.

Spokesman for the provincial government, Shahid Rind, expressed sorrow and grief over the loss of lives and directed a thorough inquiry into the explosion.

He stated that a gas supply management plan had been requested from Sui Southern Gas Company, emphasizing that unannounced gas outages were unacceptable. He assured that all necessary assistance would be provided to the affected families and warned that negligence in the treatment of the injured would not be tolerated.
