Four picnickers drown at Hawkesbay beach

Four picnickers drowned in the Arabian Sea at Karachi’s Hawkesbay beach, rescue officials said Wednesday.

Three people, including a woman, were rescued, while a search was underway for the fourth person Shaharyar, according to the rescue officials. All four individuals were members of the same family and residents of Karachi’s Federal B Area.

The incident occurred despite the Sindh government imposed Section 144 in the coastal areas of Karachi, which banned swimming in the sea during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays.

The precautionary measure were taken to protect the lives of picnickers visiting the city’s beaches, as the District South Police confirmed that officers were stationed at the beach to prevent citizens from swimming in unguarded areas. Authorities have requested beachgoers to comply with the ban and avoid potentially hazardous swimming.
