QUETTA: Caretaker Balochistan Minister for Information Jan Achakzai said on Friday that the process of sending illegal immigrants, including Afghan citizens, back to their countries is in progress and so far about four lac illegals immigrants have been repatriated.
Addressing a press conference outside block number 14 of Balochistan Civil Secretariat here today, he said Balochistan was passing through a crucial phase of history, adding that on one hand, operations against terrorists and their abettors were going on while on the other hand, bureaucracy of the province was creating hurdles in the way of incumbent provincial government.
He said that owing to the traditional laziness of bureaucracy and redtapism, problems of the people were increasing. “No importance is being given to caretaker provincial as enshrined in the constitution of the country”, he regretted. He said in other sister provinces, development work was being executed, but in Balochistan it was being tried not to complete the ongoing development schemes, resultantly, he added there was possibility that development funds worth billions of rupees could lapse. He said that directives of caretaker Prime Minister was not being implemented which could be judged from the fact that neither inquiry regarding allocation of federal fund to Balochistan had been conducted nor had NTS scandal been brought to the force.
He said caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan, who was the Chief Executive of the province, had issued directives, seeking information about privileges of bureaucracy and detail of vehicles allotted to bureaucracy, but the required information had not been furnished to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
He said that caretaker Ministers were being criticised over several issues, including absence of doctors in the healthcare facilities of the province, dearth of teachers in the educational institutions of the province, but instead of addressing those issues, bureaucracy was creating hurdles on the pretext of rules and ban imposed by the Election Commission of Pakistan on posting / transfer. He said if the same situation continued, disappointment would prevail. He said that the process of repatriating Afghan refugees was in progress, adding, “So far about 4 lac illegal immigrants, including Afghan citizens, had been repatriated. Achakzai said, “It has been learnt that the Afghan interim government was not taking care of repatriated Afghan citizens”. He called on Afghan interim government to rehabilitate Afghan citizens honourably.
