Four-day book festival begins in Larkana

LARKANA: Assistant Commissioner Ahmed Ali Soomro launched a four-day book fair at Jinnah Bagh in Larkana on Thursday.

It was organized by Sindhica Academy. PPP activist and UC Vice Chairman Shahrukh Syal, writer Khalid Chandio, organizers Kamran Shaikh, lawyers Aftab Chandio, Sarmad Hali and Sajjad Chawro cut the ribbon together.

In the book fair, Sindhi Language Authority, Sindhika, Publication, Peacock Publishers, Sambara Publication, Musa Publication, Book World, Roshni Kitab Home, Zubair Kitab Home, Rahbar Academy, among others, established stalls where book lovers will be able to buy Latifiyat, Philosophy, Literature, History. Books on research, politics, science, general knowledge and other topics at a discount of 20% to 70%.

There was a rush of people related to different fields of life and schools of thought including local, schools and colleges, students, teachers, parents of children, writers, poets, lawyers, doctors from various educational institutions.

Speaking to the media on this occasion, Ahmed Ali Soomro said that no one can deny the importance of books in any society and that books are man’s best friend. He said we are Muslims and the best book in the world is the Holy Quran, we should always read it and understand it and follow it.

He said that we should read the book of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai in any country of the Sindhi world, it will give us a lot of peace and satisfaction while the youth should read all kinds of books including literary, academic and scientific as history, geography or any other good books they should read because books are our best friend, because books provide happiness, comfort and vast knowledge to man and women, books give man good knowledge with which he/she will become morally and economically and ethically very strong and get a job or start a good business.

He said that there are also negative aspects which will all disappear and people’s lives will be enriched, happy, peaceful and golden. For this, Soomro added, we should read books and also give gifts of books to our children, with which our society will improve. He said that I also came here to buy books, because I keep reading books, which gives me a lot of knowledge, comfort and joy.
