Pakistan’s highest leadership today vehemently condemned unprovoked cross-border attacks on its border posts originating from Afghan territory, accusing the Afghan Taliban government of violating international agreements and providing safe havens to terrorists.

In a formal statement, President Asif Ali Zardari described the incursions as a “blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty.” He asserted that such hostile actions are detrimental to regional peace and jeopardize friendly relations between the neighboring countries.

The President paid tribute to the valor and professionalism of the nation”s armed forces, highlighting that the Pakistan Army had effectively repulsed assaults in the Spin Boldak and Kurram sectors. He stated that the Afghan Taliban government is continuously violating the Doha Agreement by sheltering militants who are becoming a threat to countries across the region.

President Zardari called upon the Afghan authorities to ensure their territory is not utilized for terrorism or any anti-Pakistan activities.

Echoing these sentiments, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif voiced serious concerns over the provocations at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. He attributed the aggression to the Afghan Taliban, Fitna-al-Hindustan, and Fitna-al-Khawarij.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the Pakistan Army delivered a strong response to the unprovoked aggression. He declared that the use of Afghan soil for terrorist incidents in Pakistan is highly condemnable and that the country”s sovereignty will be defended at all costs.
