Foreign media reps visit renovated churches in Jaranwala

Jaranwala: The representatives of the international media on Thursday visited the churches that have been renovated following the August 16 riots when they were torched.

The Government of Pakistan arranged the visit of 10 representatives of international media organisations. In August 2023, after some churches in Jaranwala were torched in riots, the Government of Pakistan decided to completely repair and rebuild them.

The reconstruction of the churches reflects the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to the rights of minorities and the freedom of their right to worship. The representatives of AFP, BBC, Washington Post, Russia Today, DPA (Germany) and La Croix (France) were among those who visited the Jaranwala churches.

The representatives of Anadolu News Agency (Turkey), NHK (Japan) and Arab News were also among those who visited the churches in Jaranwala. Arranging a visit for the representatives of international media to Jaranwala is proof of the commitment of the Government of Pakistan to ensure the protection of the rights of minorities. The Government of Pakistan is committed to providing all rights and facilities to the minorities and is making every effort to remedy any untoward incident.
