Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted on Sunday that continental air continues to dominate most parts of Pakistan, bringing cold and dry weather, while a weak westerly wave influences the western and upper regions of the country.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, most areas are expected to experience cold and dry conditions today, with the upper regions remaining very cold and partly cloudy. Light rain or snowfall is anticipated in isolated areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and nearby hilly regions. Foggy conditions, particularly in patches, are likely to affect the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh during nighttime.
Monday’s forecast indicates most areas are expected to experience cold and dry conditions, with the upper regions remaining very cold and partly cloudy, with the addition of light rain or snowfall extending to parts of Kashmir, northeast Punjab, and adjoining hilly areas. Fog is expected to persist in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh during the night and early morning hours.
Over the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed across most parts of the country, with very cold conditions reported in hilly areas. Moderate to dense fog affected parts of Punjab, disrupting visibility.
The lowest temperatures recorded include Skardu at minus 11 degrees Celsius, Gilgit at minus 8, and Gupis and Leh at minus 7. Bagrote and Kalat also reported freezing conditions at minus 5 degrees Celsius.
The department has advised people in fog-affected regions to exercise caution while traveling, especially during night and early morning hours, due to reduced visibility.
