First Pakistani to Lead Makkah Defence Alliance as Secretary General

Islamabad: The official name of the tripartite agreement among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Trkiye will be the Makkah Defence Alliance, and its first Secretary General will be from Pakistan. This announcement was made by Trkiye's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, during a media briefing in Istanbul today.

According to Radio Pakistan, the secretariat of the alliance will be established in Riyadh. Hakan Fidan stated that the Makkah Defence Alliance aims to institutionalize efforts to promote regional peace, security, stability, and prosperity. The alliance is based on principles of defense and international law, including respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries and non-interference in domestic affairs.

Fidan emphasized that the alliance is not directed against any specific state and remains open to participation by friendly countries that adhere to these principles. He mentioned that the Makkah Defence Alliance is complementary to other alliances to which its member countries are party, reflecting their commitment to regional peace and security.
