ISLAMABAD: The cybercrime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) got a new director on Thursday.
According to a report, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Humayun Bashir Tarar had been posted as the new director of the FIA cybercrime wing. Tarar belongs to prestigious Police Service of Pakistan (PSP). His posting as the director of the FIA cybercrime wing comes at a time when the security institutions are expressing concerns over smear campaign on social media against them.
It may be noted that FIA Cyber Crime Wing CCW Director Babar Bakht Qureshi has been transferred from his post as reportedly he targeted journalists, dissidents and rights activists during the last couple of years. During this period, many journalists and rights activists were picked up.
