Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Kacchi, visited the Makli necropolis, Shah Jahan Mosque, and Keenjhar Lake in Thatta and emphasized the importance of these sites in Pakistan’s heritage. Kacchi declared that these sites reflect the historical grandeur and cultural features of Sindh and the entire country.

Kacchi noted the significant improvements at the Makli necropolis and termed the Shah Jahan Mosque a source of national pride. He pledged to ensure its complete restoration and preservation, declaring it a national heritage.

Representatives of the Department of Archaeology briefed the minister on the ongoing projects and current affairs at these sites. Mentioning the issue of potential encroachments, Kacchi said he would raise the matter of any illegal occupation of the Department of Culture’s lands with the provincial minister, Zulfiqar Shah.

The minister reiterated the Pakistani government’s commitment to preserving national heritage. He promised efforts to promote historical sites like Makli globally.
