The Federal Cabinet today formally sanctioned the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), endorsing recommendations from its dedicated committee and announcing that the subsequent bidding process will be broadcast live on television.

The green light was given during a special cabinet session held in the capital today, which was presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

This ratification formalises the determinations previously made by the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation regarding the divestment of the national flag carrier.

During the meeting, the cabinet also offered prayers, expressing hopes for a successful and smooth completion of the transfer of ownership process.
