Expired medicines worth millions disposed of in Layyah

LAYYAH: Expired government medicines worth millions were disposed of by a hospital staff in Jaman Shah town of Layyah District on Tuesday.

The hospital staff had the option of giving the patients the life-saving medications, but they chose to store them instead. When the medicines got expired, they were thrown away in a corner of the Rural Health Center. CEO Health Dr. Shahid Riaz took a strict notice on finding over-the-counter medicines near Jaman Shah Rural Health Center and he asked the Senior Medical Officer of RHC for a response.

According to the CEO Health, the matter would be looked into and a strict action will be taken against those responsible. On the other hand, the locals said that patients do not get medicines from government hospitals and medicines worth millions have been expired as a consequence of hospital staff negligence. They also urged Deputy Commissioner Khalid Pervaiz to take strict action in response to the medical staff’s negligence.
