European Commissioner Lauds Pakistan’s Efforts Against Illegal Migration

Islamabad:The European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, has praised Pakistan for its measures to combat illegal migration. During a meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad, Brunner acknowledged the effectiveness of Pakistan's strategies, which have led to a significant 64% reduction in illegal migration to Europe.

According to Radio Pakistan, Brunner also commended the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for its professional capabilities despite limited resources. He emphasized that reducing illegal migration can pave the way for more opportunities in legal migration.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reiterated Pakistan's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against illegal migration. He noted that following the 64% reduction, the next goal is to eliminate illegal migration entirely. Naqvi highlighted the importance of collaboration between Pakistan and the European Union in achieving this objective.

The meeting also covered discussions on promoting legal migration and expanding opportunities for skilled workers between Pakistan and the European Union. Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in border security, legal immigration, and border management. Additionally, they decided to work together on the European Union's Eastern Corridor Initiative to combat illegal migration.
