ISLAMABAD:Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said on Sunday that investors started eyeing Pakistan following energy projects were launched under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 10 years ago. Addressing a function in Islamabad, he said that it was due to the CPEC that Thar coal was used for producing electricity at cheaper rates. “China’s vice prime minister is one of the founders of the mega project,” he said, adding, “Under the CPEC, nine large industrial units had to be built in the country by 2020.”

He further said that courtesy the economic corridor, thousands of students from Pakistan go to China for education.” Ahsan said that China had also invested in the Chashma Nuclear Plant. The minister said that the coalition government completed the water project in Gwadar in just six months.
