Elections no substitute for plebiscite in IIOJK JKPL

The Jammu Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) has said that so-called Indian elections are no substitute for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a Kashmir Media Service report on Sunday, the JKPL General Secretary Dr Musaib in a statement in Srinagar said that Kashmiri people wanted a permanent solution of the Kashmir dispute to ensure peace in the region.

He said that there was no let up in atrocities against Kashmiri people by Indian forces but they would continue their struggle till complete success.

Reacting to the upcoming Indian parliamentary elections in IIOJK, he said that such an exercise could never be a substitute for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.

Dr Musaib said, “Kashmir is an unresolved political issue that cannot be resolved by force but only through meaningful and result-oriented talks between the three principal parties, the Kashmiris, India and Pakistan.”

Expressing serious concern over the unrealistic and rigid attitude of the Indian rulers regarding the Kashmir dispute, he said that they (the Indian rulers) must know that they could not change the ground realities by adopting aggressive policies in the occupied territory.
