Efforts Afoot to Reduce Financial Burden on Power Consumers

Islamabad: Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari has announced the implementation of several measures aimed at reducing the financial burden on power consumers. This statement was made during a meeting with a delegation from the Pakistan Business Council, led by Chief Executive Officer Javed Kureishi, in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister highlighted the significant progress made in reducing losses across distribution companies over the past two years, which has resulted in savings of 265 billion rupees. He emphasized that increasing electricity demand, ensuring efficient use of generation capacity, and reducing power sector costs are key components of the government's reform agenda.

Furthermore, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari mentioned that feasibility studies have been completed for the conversion of imported coal-based power plants to local coal, marking a significant step in the government's efforts to enhance energy sustainability and efficiency.
