ISLAMABAD:A state-of-the-art monitoring system has been established for general elections. The federal government has been informed about the system in a report of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), official sources said Sunday.
The federal cabinet approved to present the annual report of the ECP in the Parliament through circulation, they added. “At least 24 new political parties were listed in the recent year,” the ECP report said. “By-elections were held on three Senate seats, 12 National Assembly seats, 23 Punjab Assembly seats and one Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly seat,” it added.
“The local government elections were held in Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP),” it stated.
