Earthquake jolts Islamabad, adjoining areas

ISLAMABAD: A low-intensity earthquake shook Islamabad and its adjoining areas on Tuesday.

According to Pakistan’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the magnitude of the quake was recorded at 4.5 on the Richter scale. It’s depth was 91 kilometers and it’s epicentre was Tajikistan.

The tremors were felt in Pakistan at 12:28 pm PST. So far, no loss of life has been reported.

In March, an earthquake of 6.8 magnitude shook parts of Pakistan killing nine people, including two women, and injuring over 160 others as well as causing many buildings to collapse.

The tremors were felt in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Peshawar, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, and other areas of the country.
