ISLAMABAD: A strong earthquake with 6.3 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Islamabad, parts of Punjab and Azad Kashmir on Sunday.
According to National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the quake tremors were also felt in Rawalpindi, Murree, and other parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Panic gripped the quake hit areas where people came out of their houses for their safety. However, no casualty was reported from the earthquake.
There were no reports of any damage from the earthquake, according to initial reports. The epicentre of this earthquake was Tajikistan, while its depth was 150 kilometers. The tremors also shook parts of neighbouring countries Iran and Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the earthquake shook buildings in Iran. Three people were killed and more than 500 were injured.
