DPM Reaffirms Pakistan’s Commitment to UN Charter

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has reiterated Pakistan's unwavering support for the central role of the United Nations in international affairs. He expressed these sentiments during a meeting with Ms. Carolyn Rodrigues Birkett, a candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General, who visited him in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan's longstanding commitment to multilateralism and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. He emphasized the importance of ensuring respect for international law and treaties, and the faithful implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, particularly in relation to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and the situation in Palestine.

In addition, Ishaq Dar highlighted the necessity for the United Nations to adapt to emerging global challenges and address the needs of developing countries.
