Diplomatic Relations President Zardari Applauds Bahrain’s Support for Pakistan Following Recent Terrorist Incidents

President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday thanked the Kingdom of Bahrain for its solidarity and support in the wake of recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan, a key acknowledgment during a meeting with the Bahraini Ambassador, Mr. Mohamed Ebrahim Mohamed Abdul Qader, at AiwaneSadr.

The discussion between the two dignitaries centered on matters of mutual interest and explored avenues to further bolster the bilateral relationship.

President Zardari emphasized that Pakistan deeply values its close and fraternal links with Bahrain, which he noted are founded on a shared faith and culture. He referenced the Prime Minister’s recent visit to the Gulf state, stating the warm reception was a testament to the profound ties between the two nations.

Recalling recent diplomatic engagements, the President mentioned that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had extended invitations to the Bahraini leadership to visit Pakistan. He conveyed that Pakistan eagerly awaits the opportunity to host His Majesty the King, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and His Royal Highness the Deputy Crown Prince, and appreciated the Bahraini King’s gracious acceptance of the invitation.

The President also extended his congratulations to Bahrain on its successful election to the United Nations Security Council for the 2026-2027 term.

Turning to economic cooperation, President Zardari affirmed Pakistan’s keen interest in strengthening trade and investment ties. He welcomed initiatives aimed at enhancing bilateral economic engagement and formally invited Bahraini investors to explore lucrative opportunities in Pakistan’s key sectors, including food security, information technology, and tourism.

The President also acknowledged the significant role of the Pakistani expatriate community in Bahrain, praising their positive contribution to the Kingdom’s economy and their support for Pakistan through remittances. He expressed gratitude to the Bahraini government for the opportunities provided to over 100,000 Pakistanis and specifically thanked His Majesty for the generous pardoning of Pakistani prisoners.

The meeting was also attended by the Leader of the House in the Senate, Senator Sherry Rehman, and Senator Saleem Mandviwala.
