Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto have pledged to bolster bilateral relations as the two nations approach the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic ties. The meeting took place on Tuesday during the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, according to a statement from the Foreign Office.

Discussions centered on expanding cooperation in various fields, including trade and investment. Dar emphasized Pakistan’s keenness to attract Hungarian investment and outlined governmental measures to facilitate this. Szijjarto expressed gratitude for the support from the Pakistani leadership in promoting such ventures.

Both officials expressed their determination to finalize agreements on investment protection, civil aviation cooperation, and visa-free travel for diplomatic and official passport holders. Direct flights between the two countries are also under consideration.

Education collaboration was another key topic. Dar acknowledged Hungary’s provision of 400 scholarships to Pakistani students. Szijjarto affirmed his government’s dedication to continuing educational opportunities for Pakistanis in Hungary. Regional and global peace and security issues were also deliberated.
