Human rights activists belonging to the US held a peaceful walk and demo in front of the FMC Carswell jail in Texas, where Dr Aafia Siddiqui is jailed to demand her immediate release.
According to Afia Movement information on Monday, activists including women holding banners and flags gathered before the FMC Carswell jail and raised voice against the torture and atrocities being meted out to Dr Aafia. They lavishly praised the decades long untiring struggle of Dr Fowzia Siddiqui to seek the release of her sister. They also praised the struggle of brave people of Gaza who have been braving genocide at the hands of the occupation army of Israel.
The protesters demanded a third party investigation into the sexual and physical violence Dr Siddiqui has experienced at the FMC Carswell and for meaningful measures to be put into place to prevent further abuse.
They demanded that the right be given to Dr Aafia Siddiqui to practice her religion freely. They asked for a thorough medical examination of Dr Siddiqui through a female Muslim physician not affiliated to the Bureau of Prisons to treat Dr Siddiqui’s untreated PTSD and other health conditions.
They demanded justice and accountability against those responsible for Dr Siddiqui’s abuse, including the enforcement of her 18th amendment rights to be free from force and unusual punishment. The abuses taking place on a daily basis inside the FMC Carswell are miscarriage of justice. It is the legal and moral responsibility of the Pakistani government to demand justice for Dr Aafia Siddiqui, who is a Pakistani citizen.
